To know the warning signs of anorexia can help parents to aid their child to get treatment before the disease progresses to dangerous stages.
Weight Loss
This first sign can be indicator of anorexia, but many girls who have anorexia do not have intense weight loss. Then again, if your child loses weight too suddenly or severely, then you should be concerned about anorexia.
The Obsession With Food
People who are experiencing anorexia are preoccupied with food. Although they constrained what they eat, food consumes them. They usually eat very small portions or eat uncommon food combinations. They may be obsessed with calories or cooking. Be careful if your teens always have an excuse as to why they’re not eating. Another warning signal of anorexia is someone who is always drinking diet soda.
Distorted Body Reflection
Anorexia’s major indicator is that a young girl does not perceive her body as it truly is. She like to think that she is fat, although she’s not even close to it. She may intensely hate one area of her body, such as her stomach or thighs. People with anorexia are never contented with their body, no matter how thin they are. Many young adults with anorexia weigh themselves frequently as well.
Emotions
Some people with anorexia have problem to speak out their feelings or reject on concerns others have about their physical condition with simple excuses. They may be frustrate and respond to confrontation with excessive actions, such as bursts of anger or withdrawal.
